Ground/first floor
The ground/first floor café and takeaway, featuring a large outdoor undercover terracefront, will be easily accessible either straight from the beach or from the existing pedestrian promenade. The ground floor will also provide public toilets and changerooms, bike/surf-board racks and a concession stand for beach/surf related products. The café will have an on-premises license.
Second floor
The second floor function centre will consist of an open area which can be divided into rooms. These can be used for a range of activities including functions such as weddings, seminars and product launches and community related activities. This floor benefits from a wrap-around verandah and large rear terrace.
Third floor
Moving upward, the third floor will consist of a restaurant and associated bar area. This level has direct access to Henderson Parade where a covered "porte cochere" entry is proposed. There is a large northern verandah that wraps around the eastern side of the building with a large portion undercover.
A meeting place for the community
The Surf House will be a place where locals and visitors can meet and engage in beachside activities or simply enjoy the world-class views that this prime site has to offer. It will be a unique, socially interactive opportunity for Newcastle.
